Rockieshome.com | Colorado Rockies News, rockies Scores, Game Recaps & Commentary - Top Two-Start Pitchers of the Week
Roy Halladay, Toronto: He's been one of the best pitchers in the game all season long, up near the leaders in complete games, strikeouts and all out domination. When he's on, he's as good as there is. There's no way you can ever sit him down.Cliff Lee, Cleveland: Somehow, this guy's been even better than Halladay in '08, and that's really saying something. His record is the best in baseball, his ERA is stellar and the strikeouts are nothing to sneeze at, either. He remains a lock each and every week.
Ryan Dempster, Chicago Cubs: He just hasn't gone away, has he? Many probably thought he would tire in the second half of the season or continue to crumble on the road. However, he just threw a beauty in Milwaukee and remains throwing as well as anyone in the National League.
Brandon Webb, Arizona: The former Cy Young winner's been as good as advertised this year, leading the entire major leagues with 14 wins. You have to like his matchups this week too, as the D-Backs get home games against the Pirates and Braves, who have both been dreadful on the road this year.
Dan Haren, Arizona: All those things I just said about Webb (sans Cy Young, of course), go ahead and use all that for Haren as well. In fact, he's been even better than his teammate over the past month and a half. It's true.
Joba Chamberlain, New York Yankees: You wonder why they allowed him to go so long this year without starting. Joba's been a man's man on the hill for the Yanks, striking out batters like's it's his job (OK, well, I guess it is - so sue me). He's become a legitimate fantasy beast lately.
