DENVER (AP) - The Colorado Rockies recalled left-handed reliever Cedrick Bowers from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Tuesday and optioned right-hander Ryan Speier.
Bowers was 4-1 with a 2.97 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 39.1 innings for the Sky Sox this season. He appeared in 16 games, starting two.Bowers gives the Rockies a second left-hander in their bullpen, joining closer Brian Fuentes.
Speier was 1-1 with a 4.13 ERA in 25 games for Colorado this season. In his last appearance, he faced two batters and gave up two runs and two hits in a 15-8 loss to San Diego on Monday night.
