Dodgers-Rockies Preview
The Los Angeles Dodgers are hitting like last season's Colorado Rockies.

This year's Rockies, meanwhile, don't even look like the same team.

The Dodgers will look to win their eighth straight game on Saturday night in Denver, while the slumping Rockies will be hoping to avoid another three-game losing streak.

Los Angeles' winning streak started with a home sweep of Colorado (11-18) last weekend, as the Dodgers (16-13) scored 22 runs in three games. After a three-game sweep of the Florida Marlins to begin their road trip, they showed no signs of slowing down on Friday, when they beat the Rockies 11-6.

"We know we can put runs on the board," said Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp, who has 15 RBIs and is batting .406 during the win streak - with at least one hit in all seven games. "We can compete with any team. We think we're the best team out there and right now we're playing like it."

Kemp and Rafael Furcal each had four RBIs Friday as Los Angeles scored 11 runs for the third time in the last six games.

Furcal, who had a three-run homer, leads the majors with 30 runs scored and is second with a .380 batting average.

"This is the best of my career," Furcal said. "When you go up and it's going well, anything can happen. You look forward to every at-bat."

Colorado likely felt that way when it won its last seven games against the Dodgers in 2007, in the midst of its remarkable run to the NL pennant. This year's Rockies appear headed in the opposite direction, having dropped 10 of their last 12 games.

They could be without shortstop Troy Tulowitzki until the All-Star break due to a torn quadriceps tendon, and they can't seem to pitch and hit well at the same time. The last four times they've scored at least six runs, they've lost, and ace Jeff Francis struggled again on Friday, remaining winless.

"I think we need to play better. That's the way I look it," Colorado manager Clint Hurdle said. "But when you simplify things, break it down, it still comes down to execution. Execution starts with me, and I'm accountable and responsible for it. This game holds you to a very high level of execution."

The Rockies will have to rely on a pitcher making his season debut on Saturday, as left-hander Jorge De La Rosa makes his first appearance in a Colorado uniform. De La Rosa was acquired Wednesday as the player to be named from a March trade with Kansas City.

De La Rosa started 23 games for the Royals last year, going 8-12 with a 5.82 ERA. He was sent to Triple-A Omaha this spring, where he went 3-0 with a 1.64 ERA in four starts.

"Our reports are he's a big left-hander with a big arm and we're waiting on some consistency," Hurdle told his team's official Web site. "That's what the Royals were waiting on. Since they sent him down, he's had one of his best runs pitching in professional baseball. We'll see if that can correlate to the major league level."

Los Angeles will counter with Esteban Loaiza - like De La Rosa, a native of Mexico. Loaiza (1-2, 4.15) allowed two runs over five innings against the Rockies last Sunday, in a game the Dodgers eventually won 3-2 in 10 innings.

Loaiza is 4-4 with a 6.14 ERA in 13 career appearances - 12 starts - versus Colorado. Rockies first baseman Todd Helton is 8-for-13 (.615) with four doubles against him.
