Rockieshome.com | Colorado Rockies News, rockies Scores, Game Recaps & Commentary - --3B Ian Stewart's home run Thursday was his 20th of the season, giving the Rockies three players with at least 20 homers. The others are SS Troy Tulowitzki (24) and 2B Clint Barmes (22). Stewart is the fifth left-handed hitter in Rockies history to hit 20 home runs in a season, joining Todd Helton (eight times), Larry Walker (six), Brad Hawpe (three) and Jeromy Burnitz (one). --2B Clint Barmes hit his 22nd home run and 12th in the second half. Barmes now has 12 home runs and 14 singles in the second half, during which he is hitting .173 (28-for-162). --1B Todd Helton singled in the fourth and went 1-for-4, giving him a seven-game hitting streak and a stretch in which he has hit safely in 15 of his past 16 games and gone 22-for-54 (.407).
--RF Brad Hawpe, a left-handed hitter, wasn't in the lineup and didn't play for the first time since Aug. 13 and just the second time in the second half. Hawpe has five hits in his past 28 at-bats, including three doubles and one home run.
--CF Dexter Fowler (bruised right knee) will go through a full workout Friday, and if there are no setbacks, he will go to Class AAA Colorado Springs for a quick rehab assignment. Fowler's knee has responded well to sprints and batting practice. He is scheduled to play seven innings Saturday at Tacoma, DH there on Sunday and play nine innings Monday at Tacoma before returning to Denver on Tuesday for evaluation. Fowler is eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list Tuesday.
--LHP Franklin Morales has replaced closer Huston Street, who is likely to miss a few days with biceps tendinitis. He earned his first career save in his 39th career appearance and 24th in relief. It was just the second save of Morales' professional career, the other coming with low Class A Asheville in 2005.
--LHP Alan Embree was prepared to throw off a mound for the first time since he had surgery to repair a broken right tibia on July 11, the Denver Post reported. "I am ready to find out how it feels," he told the newspaper. "It's time."
