--CF Dexter Fowler was among six players added to the Rockies' roster. Colorado also activated RHP Matt Herges from the disabled list called RHPs Jason Hirsh and Greg Reynolds, C Edwin Bellorin and 1B Joe Koshansky from Class AAA Colorado Springs. Manager Clint Hurdle indicated that Fowler basically will be on the bench, and Hirsh and Reynolds will work out of the bullpen initially with the possibility they could all get some starting time if the Rockies don't make a late-season push to the division title. Fowler hit .335 for Class AA Tulsa, and he earned a bronze medal with Team USA at the Olympics.
--LHP Franklin Morales, who opened the season in the big-league rotation but has battled command issues even in the minor leagues, was not among the players the Rockies brought up for September. Morales will go to the Arizona Instructional League for work on the mechanical problems before pitching this winter in his native Venezuela. --Two Rockies full-season Class A affiliates are in the postseason. Asheville, in the low Class A South Atlantic League, opens the Southern Division playoffs Wednesday against Augusta. High Class A Modesto opens the California League playoffs against Stockton on Wednesday.
--CF Willy Taveras stole his NL-leading 66th base. He is 66-for-73 in stealing bases, a 90.4 percent success rate, the best for a player with at least 60 stolen bases since the stat was compiled, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
--LHP Jorge De La Rosa has the largest drop among major league pitchers in his ERA from before the All-Star break (7.26) to after the break (2.90), according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
