--Hitting coach Don Baylor is in a Denver hospital with pneumonia and did not travel with the Rockies to Pittsburgh, the first stop on a three-city, 10-game road trip. It is not known when Baylor might rejoin the team.
--The Rockies won Friday for just the second time in 19 games when the opposition scores first, improved to 2-5 in series openers on the road and 3-12 in games decided by two or fewer runs, including 2-4 in two-run games. --The Rockies on Tuesday began a stretch of 16 consecutive days before their next scheduled off day May 28. They will then play 17 consecutive days before an off day June 15, meaning they are playing 33 games in 34 days.
