Colorado Rockies Notes, Quotes 2009-04-17
--The Rockies have hit at least one homer in seven of their eight games and 13 in all. They have also struck out 68 times in those eight games.

--RHP Jason Grilli's second career save Wednesday, which came after he relieved faltering Huston Street with no out and runners on first and second in the ninth, was his first where he took over in the ninth. Grilli's other save came when he pitched three innings on Aug. 26, 2008, at San Francisco and retired nine straight batters in a 7-2 win.

--LHP Franklin Morales worked six scoreless innings Wednesday for Class AAA Colorado Springs and allowed two singles with five walks and four strikeouts against Reno. He was lifted after throwing 90 pitches, 53 for strikes. The start was a possible prelude to returning to the Rockies next Tuesday at Arizona when they'll need a fifth starter. Because of three off days in the first 11 days of the season, Morales was sent down after a start April 8 at Arizona when he allowed four hits and one run in six innings and won 9-2.

--The Rockies were held to one hit in Monday's 4-0 loss at Chicago, the 16th time in franchise history that has happened. They have been no-hit twice -- by Al Leiter of the Marlins on May 11, 1996, and by Hideo Nomo of the Dodgers on Sept. 17, 1996, in the only no-hitter thrown at Coors Field. The last time the Rockies were held to one hit was Sept. 6 at Coors Field by the Astros' Roy Oswalt. Ted Lilly, Angel Guzman, Aaron Heilman and Kevin Gregg became the fifth pitching combination to limit the Rockies to one hit.

BY THE NUMBERS: 3 -- Home runs in 19 at-bats through six games for SS Troy Tulowitzki, who hit three home runs in 151 at-bats in 39 games last year before the All-Star break when he was on the disabled list twice with injuries.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I was trying to go down and in. I just didn't get it in. You miss your spot in the big leagues, they do that to you." -- RHP Huston Street on the 1-1 fastball PH Matt Stairs hit for a game-winning two-run homer on April 12.
